Alpacas d'Auxvasse
Alpacas d'Auxvasse is a small farm just east of Auxvasse, Missouri, owned by our friend Ann Mayes. Breeding suri and huacaya alpacas for quality fiber and conformation is not enough for Ann. Focusing on raising healthy, happy, FRIENDLY alpacas is a priority. Ann doesn’t want to watch her animals from afar - she wants to be a welcome part of their lives, so she raises her animals to have as beautiful a disposition as they do fiber and conformation.
Alpacas d’Auxvasse is a full-service farm offering sales, high-quality breedings, unlimited mentoring, and best of all, answers to that all-important question: What do I do with my fiber?
. . . And speaking of fiber! Although Ann originally planned to breed alpacas for the love of the animal, she has discovered the wonders of spinning and weaving. If you are looking for handspun yarn, finished handmade products, or roving, she has it.
Ann’s decision to raise alpacas came as a shock to both herself and her grown children, but she considers it the greatest thing she’s ever done. While sitting up late discussing the woes of the world with a friend one night, she exclaimed, "I'll just move to the country and raise alpacas!” The next morning, the idea sounded just as good as it had the night before, and Ann set out to find a farm and assemble a herd.
Go see Ann’s suris and huacayas in all their natural colors from white to true black. Let her show you how her impulsive action has blossomed into a passion that only grows. Fall in love as you meet her people-friendly herd, and take it easy visiting and learning about alpacas on the back deck.
